We sit down like many families to pray just before we eat, usually this priviledge falls to our children Elizabeth and Abigail. One day after the prayer was said and we were begining to fill our tummies I leaned over and asked Abigail "Why do we pray?" She looked up at me with her beautifully silly eyes and said, "because it makes God Smile." We all had a good laugh and then I patted her little back and and affirmed her, "It sure does." When is the last time I prayed just because I wanted to make God smile not because I needed something or someone I loved needed the Great Physician to intercede. What would a prayer sound like if we were focused on making God smile rather than ourselves.
God Bless.

Food For Thought
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!

Just a Little Princess
We are Here at Foster's Home for Children sorry it's been so long since I have posted, my life has been fairly hectic, but enough about me.
One of the young ladies we serve has had a rough life. In prison at a young age and still adjusting to "normal" life. She surprised me though. When we asked for a Christmas wish list, she wanted a princess comforter. This young lady I had pegged as "rough" and frankly I was pretty intimidated by her,but still she was simply someones little child. I cried that night thinking of how I had judged her. I truly am blessed to be able to minister here in this place.
God Bless.

No Coffee Needed

It began as one of those mornings where the kids wake up an hour before they are suppose to, and dad has that blurry look in his eye. It all changed when Abigail my youngest daughter whispered "Daddy, I hear someone crying for help." I listened and sure enough I could hear a faint cry. I supposed it was a cat that was stuck or worse giving birth. I told her that I would go check it out and asked her to lay down for a little bit longer. Hoping it was nothing, and that daddy could begin to pour the coffee down in an attempt to wake up. Well I didn't need the coffee, it turned out that Abigail heard my next door neighbor that had been outside for an hour, "Hollering". She is a sweet older lady that we have been helping for a couple of years. She had fallen and her arthritis would not allow her to get up. She thanked me profusely and I came back home so thankful my daughter came to get me and that she heard Mrs. Sinclair's cries for help.
It is funny how people are placed in our lives. I believe that God has placed me next door to a lady that needs a strong back and a caring heart every now and then. We met in the oddest of ways. My oldest was just a toddler and was left in the van by herself when she unbuckled and put the van in reverse, she backed out of the drive and hit Mrs. Sinclair's fence and knocked it partially down. Since then I have helped her flip mattresses, pick up her fallen husband who is having health problems as well, and move stuff for a garage sale.
I don't write this today to say I am a great neighbor because I should go over more often to be quite honest. Just that when we look with God's eyes we don't have to go far at all to minister and serve those in need. We don't need programs and organizations, what we need more than anything in this world is a heart to serve those in need.
Mrs. Sinclair is doing well. She has two pretty bad pop knots on her noggin and the kids and I are gonna take her some cookies later today so...
This is where you come in what kind of cookies should we take??
Have a good day and remember to be a neighbor.
Matt
